The International Verifiers
The Final Agreement, in point 6.3 created the International Verification Component of the Commission for the Follow-up, Promotion and Verification of the Implementation of the Final Agreement (CSIVI) composed of two Notables, a Technical Secretariat and Technical Support (A.F.6.3.2) whose purpose is to “verify the status and progress of implementation, identify delays or deficiencies, provide opportunities for continuous improvement, as well as contribute to strengthen its implementation” (A.F.6.3).
In accordance with the Final Agreement (6.3.2), the CSIVI designated by Joint Communiqué No. 15 of March 23, 2017 as Notables of the International Verification Component former Spanish President Felipe González and former Uruguayan President José (Pepe) Mujica.
The Notables or International Verifiers head the International Verification Component and have the function of making public pronouncements and reports in relation to the progress made in the implementation and the points of discussion and controversy on which they may make recommendations for solutions.
José (Pepe) Mujica: Former President of Uruguay (2010-2015). Since March 2015 he has been Senator for the Frente Amplio party.
Felipe González: Former Prime Minister of Spain (1982-1996).
